Hidden Sounds | Sounds in Motion provides an opportunity for 6 leading Australian musicians/sound artists to experiment with new possibilities in sound making. The project involves the creation of 8 new performance-activated kinetic sound sculptures.
Explore the art and science of sound during National Science Week with 7 discreet interactive sound sculptures that articulate ideas about the phenomena of sound, and awareness of place.
Clocked Out (Vanessa Tomlinson and Erik Griswold) team up with Erkki Veltheim, Leah Barclay, John Ferguson, and Sulja Nezovic to create new installations of participatory kinetic sound works, Hidden Sounds | Sounds in Motion. Exploring hidden sounds in the environment, kinetic properties of sound waves, handmade mechanical and electronic devices, the installations are unfolding across various events in 2018, with a special preview of new works as part of National Science Week.
Hidden Sounds is supported by the Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre at Griffith University and the Australia Council for the Arts, the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body.
